Product Review Nikon D3000

What’s a good quality, reasonably priced camera to start with if I have no previous experience in photography?

someone’s suggested to me the nikon D3000 priced at around $500, but I wanted other possibilities (or confirmation that this IS a good camera to start with). I don’t plan on taking any future photography classes or getting that into photography so I don’t need one of those huuuge lenses and tripods and all that…but something still better than the regular digital camera. I’ve always liked taking scenic nature photos, but they always turn out so crappy on my current camera so I wanted a better quality one.
It’d be nice if you can also include the price and maybe a link to a review of the product. Thanks!
Also, I can only afford under $1000 :/

To start with , compact cameras are the best. The kind of budget you have mentioned, perhaps a high end compact camera from nikon or canon should be good enough. Check out nikonP-80, P-90, P100 these are bridge cameras, with all the in-camera settings of a dslr and with fixed lens.
