PSP vs. iPod Touch: is it really okay for people to have these products comepete?

I see a lot of people asking questions of what things they should buy, probably teenagers who don’t have the money to buy either, but are obsessed with those products (I’ve seen multiple users post the same A vs B).
One thing that I got really annoyed at was people trashing on the PSP (agaisnt the iPod Touch), because it’s interface was more cluttered and difficult. but the PSP is a gaming console, and the iPod Touch is soley for multi-media and for mobile browsing.
Is it okay if people on reviews and comparisons use these products against each other? Has Sony really brought their PSP into a multi-media market to compete with the iPod now?

Hmm. I have both. The psp really sucks at internet browsing, and, imho, music as well. Its too big to be a good MP3 player. As for the touch… Its a great mp3 player- nice and small. Way more capacity than most people have for their psps. The internets pretty fast, and you can instant message from it. I use my Touch a lot more in general.
