Why do you think people don’t realize that an iPod might not be the best choice for them (for portable music)

It’s kind of strange to me that so many people think they need an iPod. I bet they don’t even consider any of the other options.

And now you can get 30GB Zunes for a little over 100 bucks… which is considerably less than a Nano with 4GB.
I’m not saying that iPods are bad, or that they never are the best choice, but seriously, there are products that will do everything you will use an iPod for that are much cheaper and that don’t force you to use the crap program that is iTunes.
