Navel rings and jewels?

Which is better a ring or jewel, I read that rings are pierced lower down so if you want a jewel (which will be pierced higher up) you should get one first. Which is better and if you firstly get pierced with a ring will it look strange to wear a jewel?

I don’t know what you mean by jewel…rings are the circular pieces of jewelry and aren’t good for navel piercings, especially as initial jewelry. Most piercers are going to use curved/banana barbells that are really simple with no dangly stuff on it for the initial jewelry.
