DOES ANYONE READ BEFORE THEY BUY ELECTRONICS?

ok my above question/complaint is about the MAGIC JACK i read review after review about how bad magic jack was then i talked to a friend of mine and he was using magic jack and he loves it and i bought one from Radio Shack and it works FINE i just hate when products get a bum wrap because people don’t follow directions OR READ REQUIREMENTS for the use of products most of the bad publicity can be avoided if people would READ THE information provided by the manufacture. does this bother anyone else?????

I got my MJ over a year ago.. I haven’t used it for a few months, but thats because I dont use the phone much.. . and the PC that I dedicated to the MJ is not connected to my network right now….

thats right, I had an old PC running the MJ so that when me or my wife are using our computers, the CPU or memory usage did not affect the quality of the MJ connection…

most of the problems that people are experiencing with the MJ as far as call quality, etc are related locally to the PC that it is running on, and how strained the CPU or memory is, secondary troubles are internet connection speed…

with my trials with the MJ (i used it as my only house phone for over 3 months) exceeded my expectations. The only feature that I found that it lacked was “forward on busy” so that it could function to some extent as a phone line in a hunt group for a small business.

It far exceeds in performance, quality, and price what I consider its only competitor – skype, which I trialed as my only home phone line for several months with very spotty and poor service, even when using it on a computer dedicated only for this purpose.

I think many consumers are comparing the MJ experience with traditional landline service, or VoIP service like Vonage (which I also used as my only home phone service for nearly a year)

I think for the average user the MJ is great to supplement there existing service, to use as a second line, or cheap long distance, but for someone to compare a service that costs $20 a year to a service that costs $20-$80+ per month and expect the same experience has flawed logic.

I love the MJ and would recommend it to anyone, but I would also explain ahead of time to people its limitations. For its price it is “worth the risk” of it not performing up to expectations from time to time, unlike other similar devices like the ooma, which is too much money not to exceed expectations every time you use it (I refuse to trial the ooma service, as it is a gamble that they will be in business long enough to break even with there overpriced service)
