what kind of miniDV camcorder would be best?

while searching i come across outdated products, or products with out reviews, but everything does seem to say that minidv and a firewire cord is the way to go for getting footage you would like to edit..but what brand would be good, or even what specific model would have a clear stable image,indoors for under $400.. ? and an image that would also upload well on to youtube or other video sites such as Tongal and poptent, are there any cameras that have these features and are compatible with both a mac and windows vista, since the school uses mac,, though home projects must settle for vista…so anyhow, any brand suggestions, or specific suggestions?

Of all the camcorders on the market I prefer JVC to any other make , mine beats my Sony and my Panasonic though these are still good camcorders.
